Things I Like - July

My monthly round-up of 5 things I'm liking, with a few affiliate links sprinkled in.  Thanks for helping support the blog! =)  See more here!

1) Joggers
After they made my shopping list more than once, I finally found some I like!  These are from Amazon and I sized down because reviews said they were a bit big and the size down turned out to be perfect!  I wore them quite a bit in the evenings before it got to be in the 90s for most of July and have slept in them a few times at the lake.  They are everything I dreamed they would be...AND pockets!  So helpful for holding my phone and tissues for the cold I just can't shake.

2) Mary Poppins Returns
The Sound of Music has long been my favorite movie but Julie Andrews being in that and the original Mary Poppins made me think fondly of the latter too.  I was excited to see this and had Matt on the library hold list for MONTHS (since my own holds are always full with books for myself) and then we got it right before it was on Netflix anyways.  (Great planning, Diana.)  But I thought this was charming and fun and captured much of the magic of the first.  I also like Emily Blunt and love musicals so all that really helped.  Luke also liked it.

3) Ghirardelli Chocolate Chips
I've started buying these chocolate chips regularly now instead of just the Aldi ones.  They are more expensive but they really are so much richer.  We still buy Aldi ones and I often do a mix of Ghirardelli and Aldi chocolate chips when baking.  I like using a variety of chocolate chips (and sizes - mini and regular) to give a little more flavor depth.  I also often snack on these which is partially why they are disappearing from the freezer so fast.  But they are significantly more delicious than the Aldi ones.

4) Three Identical Strangers documentary
Matt had told me this story a couple months ago and then I saw there was a documentary on it right before he gave up screens for 90 days so we just got around to watching this.  It's the true story of 3 brothers who were separated at birth, adopted, and then 2 of them just happened to meet when they were 19.  But it was more than just the brothers reuniting, it was also about why they were split and the implementations that had on their lives AND about nature vs. nurture.   I may have found it especially interesting, having adopted twice and also wondering about nature and nurture, even though the documentary had no definitive answer to that.  It was about 90 minutes and so interesting, heart warming, and heart breaking.

5) Kashi Chocolate Almond Sea Salt bars
I originally bought a couple boxes of these when they were super on sale right before our 3rd NYC trip and really enjoyed them then.  Then we bought them again for our last NYC trip.  Then I realized that some days it's just much easier to throw a granola bar in my bag than pack a muffin that I made for morning snack and so now I buy a box every couple months and it is SO MUCH EASIER.  They are delicious and feel healthier than a standard granola bar I buy at Aldi for Luke's school snack.  And they have chocolate which always helps.
