Things I Like - October

My monthly round-up of 5 things I'm liking, with a few affiliate links sprinkled in.  Thanks for helping support the blog! =)  See more here!

1) Essie Heart of the Jungle Nail Polish
I once pared down my nail polished to about 8 and I felt like I had all my seasons and occasions covered.  Then I started itching for more varieties.  I still don't have a TON, maybe 12-15 bottles? But enough that I have a handful I use just in specific seasons...and then navy which I use year-round (always on my toes, often on my hands).  This one was my new purchase for fall and I love it.  It is a perfect mossy green that just feels like fall (although, it might also come out in spring, we'll see).  It also happens to perfectly match my neighbor's car which is weird and not helpful to anyone who doesn't know what my neighbor's car looks like.

2) Threshold Navy Throw
I didn't really need another lap blanket but I liked the idea of having one thrown on the couch for easy cuddling, since the rest of our couch blankets live in a storage ottoman in my office, which involves getting off the couch, walking ~20 feet and opening a baby gate (which is only half useful since Sam knows how to open it, but it does deter him a bit at least).  The boys and I all love this one and I have to convince Luke he can't snuggle up in it while reviewing flashcards.  Super handy and seasonal and cozy.

3) Orchard Cider Opalhouse candle
I only light candles in cooler months, when the windows aren't open and was in search of a good fall scent that wasn't too cinnamony since that's what I light at Christmastime.  This won from my search on Target.com since I like their soy candles and the scents seemed interesting and appropriate - pine, apple berry, cinnamon, and orange.  It is exactly what I was hoping for and fantastic for fall, especially as the days are cooling off and our windows are rarely open.  If Target could just put their candles on sale so I could buy more than one, that would be fantastic.

4) Thriftbooks
Since somewhere I decided to make it my goal to read all the Berenstain Bear books (there are SO MANY) and the library doesn't have them all...I ended up searching Thriftbooks and got 4 shipped to my house for just $3-4 each.  I was delighted.  Then I placed more Thriftbooks orders and I realized that knowing that they exist could be dangerous for me.  We are trying to get away from shopping much on Amazon and I can only buy so many brand-new books from The Bookshelf without completely destroying our budget.  I'm also working on filling out our picture book collection for various holidays and with older titles which Thriftbooks is perfect for.  They don't have nearly everything but they have a lot and for good prices.  That is an affiliate link of sorts up there and you'll get 15% off your first order and I get points which I honestly don't know what they are used for but I guess I want them?  I was going to post about them before I realized it might be mutually beneficial though.  This fills a whole left by half.com where I used to buy so many gently used books.

5) Greg Paprocki BabyLit Alphabet Series
I love this book series.  It started with Z is for Zoo (aff link) and E is for Easter (aff link) for Sam's birthday in the spring.  Then we read all the ones the library had (only a few).  Then I wanted more seasonal picture/board books and I really like these...so I bought a few more that we hadn't read yet (B is for Boo (aff link) and T is for Thankful (aff link)).  THEN I finally realized that I should request that the library should buy them, you know, so more people can enjoy them but also so I don't have to keep buying them all just to read them.  I think the pictures are FANTASTIC, so much detail and so much to see on every page.  Luke even likes looking through them and there aren't many alphabet books he's interested in anymore.  I really enjoy this series.

Those are a few things I've been liking lately, how about you??
