I always enjoy hearing what works for other people and I like sharing things I like, it's part of the reason I have a blog. I've been doing these monthly posts for 10 years and they also provide a nice little snapshot in my life at a moment in time! See more here! Some affiliate links may be included!
Ashley from Under the Sycamore has posted many times on her family's year around the world trip about her kids playing this game. (She's one of my favorite follows on IG.) I mentioned it when my sister was over a couple weeks ago and then a few days later one showed up in the mail, as a thank you for babysitting her little girls (it was our pleasure, we don't have enough girls here). It took a little bit of fumbling to get the rules figured out but now we all have them pretty well down. It says 8+ but 5 year old Sam can hold his own pretty well! We just have to help him read some of the action cards. A much faster version of Monopoly and still fun for the whole family! This has been a game staple lately.2) Felt Flowers
These were an impulse purchase from Target a few weeks back, on a rare inside trip to pickup a prescription. They are very cute and just felt nice and springy. They are cuter in person than this picture. I don't know that I would have stumbled across them on the app so it was good we went in store for once!3) Costco Queso
I am not yet sold on Costco. It took having a membership for something like 4 months before Matt finally got me to go in store and even then I wasn't impressed. My sister and a SIL both sent me lists of things they like to get there...and then we still only bought a few things. However, one of those things was this queso. We had just had the boys' taco birthday party and had some leftover queso from that so it took a bit until we opened up this Costco Queso (which has to stay refrigerated). And now I found one thing at Costco that I am very much sold on. It has a better consistency than any other one I've bought in store AND a great taste. It is fantastic and now I'm going to have to go back just for Queso. Highly recommend.4) Shrinking
We had a free couple of months of Apple TV for upgrading our phones (which, sadly, wasn't quite long enough to cover the currently airing season of Ted Lasso) and I had heard some good things about this show so we tried it. Then blew through all ~8 already aired episodes in two nights. After that our Friday nights briefly consisted of new Shrinking, new Ted Lasso, and new Mandalorian which is a pretty good tv lineup. Shrinking is like Cougar Town + Ted Lasso - football (soccer). It made us laugh out loud, A LOT, and had a lot of emotion. Plus, a lot of language. Made by some of the same people who make Ted Lasso. It was a joy. 5) Lego Daffodils
My sister sent me an IG reel the other day about "if you are sad, just buy Legos". Something along those lines. I don't know how sad we are at all times but we do keep buying Legos. So many Legos come into this house. These were part of my Easter gift (that I picked out and ordered myself). I built them and put in a vase with the Lego tulips I got last year! See! Legos AND home decor. (An increasing amount of our home decor is becoming Legos...).
