It's once again time for me to look back over my list from January and see how (little) progress I've made over the last 3 months. Turns out, I haven't made as much as I was hoping and these quarterly check-ins are VERY helpful for getting my butt in gear (I have since checked another one off since September 30th!). There are really just a few (large) outstanding items that I have made NO progress on that all require at least some internet research and price comparing and searching and when my computer time is already so limited and I have a lot of other things to do (like pay bills, update photobooks, write this blog, etc.) that cramming in more just hasn't happened. BUT these are all things I want to happen so I just need to make the space for them. Also, convince myself to spend some money.
Nagging Tasks
1) Renew passports (0%)
Nope, not yet. But Matt has a day off soon for his birthday (but not on his birthday) and I'm considering making him go do these with me...
2) Fill all the nail holes & paint (100%)
All done! I finally finished this project that took a grand total of about 25 minutes but I put off for over a year.
3) Use some of our compost (0%)
Nope. Compost help needed, ASAP. Anyone good at this??
House Projects
4) Put hooks in the stairway (100%)
DONE! After Luke's backpack lived on the back of one of our dining chairs all of last school year, Matt got this one up just a couple days into this school year! And he made 2 more hook rails for the two bedrooms at the lake!
5) Replace porch ceiling fan (100%)
DONE! And we replaced one of our front room fans AND will be replacing another (it's in the box on the porch), need to decide where it is going. (Also, the coffee table Matt made is done!)
6) Replace night stands (0%)
I am a bit of an underbuyer and even though I REALLY want these replaced, I haven't gotten myself to spend the money yet. Plus, we want real wood and that gets expensive. I really like these from Young House Love but I'm pretty sure they are too big and also that price x's 2... But then I also want to replace our bed frame (that might be on next year's list) and I don't want to buy something that won't match whatever we decide for that...it's a process!
7) Replace house numbers (100%)
Done!
8) Sand down & repaint Luke's bedroom door (100%)
Done! I had nothing to do with this project since RA means I can't use a palm sander and then Matt ended up doing the painting too.
9) Add flower boxes to playhouse (100%)
Done! The flowers are still a little bit alive!
10) Plant a lilac bush/tree (100%)
Done!
Kinda Fun
11) Fill kitchen picture ledges (100%)
Done!
12) Find a daily lip color (0%)
I have some possibilities in the Amazon cart...
13) Find a delicate, short necklace (100%)
Done!
14) Figure out map for travels (0%)
Nope.
New Habits
15) Organize Luke's school papers (0%)
Needs done SO BAD. At least A LOT less coming home in 1st grade than there was in kindergarten!
16) Go on 4 dates with Matt (75%)
We've done 3!!! The third might be the race we ran together this past weekend but we had no kids, went downtown alone, did an activity (running), ate food (the "free" after run food), and a drink (also free). So, it counts. But we also did a purposeful 2nd date too, strangely almost the same location but no running was involved (although we did bike!) and we had to pay for those drinks.
17) Read 6 chapter books with Luke (100%)
We're on #12 right now!
18) Order 6 photobooks (2018, Sam year 1, Luke year 6, NYC, Las Vegas, summer 2019 vacation) (83%)
The only progress I made on this one this quarter was the book I ordered on July 1st... I am STILL, almost 4 months later, sorting through pictures from our Michigan trip in June. I am down to just one big day left. THEN I will start that photobook. Also Luke's year 7 because he's 6½ and I have yet to do that (ours and Sam's are caught up at least). I do have a dedicated time each week to working on these so I am getting caught up, just slowly.
19) Integrate 3 essential oils in our lives (33%)
I've had some sitting in the Amazon cart waiting for 4th quarter when we get 5% back on Amazon purchases so I think I will go order those now! (And I did! Just going to take a few days because I am ALWAYS interested in that $1 credit for "select digital items").
I thought I was doing well with this...then I calculated my score as 62%. YIKES. So, I have a few things to work on in the next 3 months! If anyone has brilliant (or even workable) solutions for compost, kid school papers, or keeping track of states they have visited, let me know! I am VERY open to suggestions and help on those, especially the compost.
