Things I Like - February

My monthly round-up of 5 things I'm liking, with a few affiliate links sprinkled in.  Thanks for helping support the blog! =)  See more here!

1) Ticket to Ride: New York
I first heard of Ticket to Ride when I saw it on a friend's wedding registry and I thought it was a Beatles trivia game.  That was 6+ years ago and I since learned that's not what the game is but we never played until earlier this month.  My parents taught us on their full version and then I almost immediately rebought this shorter version on sale. (Rebought because I had bought it on Black Friday for $10 but then was tired of how much money we were spending and returned it.  My rebuy was only slightly more than that.)  Matt and I played one weekend recently and it was fun!  It's quicker than the full version, we played 4 rounds in about 90 minutes but I found it much more satisfying in that I actually got to complete routes since they are all shorter.  It was definitely a worthwhile buy.

2) Chocolate Butter Cookies
Also a recent impulse buy that I am now somewhat obsessed with...these Dark Chocolate Butter Cookies I got at Aldi for $1.99.  I am a sucker for dark chocolate and even though I still have a decent stash from Christmas gifts, I still threw these in the cart...and then had Matt buy me another  box the next week and I bought another box the week after that.  They are DELICIOUS.  Perfect little treat that I have, so far, managed to completely hide from my kids.  I don't need $2 of cookies a week but I am enjoying them while I can get them.

3) Yesterday
And speaking of the Beatles, I had heard about this movie and checked it out from the library when I saw it on an endcap.  I renewed it a whole bunch of times before Matt and I had a free Saturday night to watch it (and I kinda had to talk him into it) and it turned out to be delightful!  The whole world doesn't know who the Beatles are except one man who remembers all their songs and passes them off as his own.  Everyone thinks he's a genius.  It was fun and heartwarming and I immediately listened to all the Beatles song I had on my phone afterwards.

4) Minimalist Mom podcast
I've lost count of the number of podcasts I've included here over the 4 years I've been listening to them.  A LOT.  This was a recent find when Anne Bogel was a guest and then I stuck around!  The title is self-explanatory - a Mom talking about simplifying.  AND her name is Diane which isn't Diana but it is close.  And she lives in Ohio, which isn't Indiana but it is close.  I appreciate different guests she's had on and hearing how other Mom simplify.  I super appreciate that each episode is around 30 minutes too, anything over an hour for a podcast episode just feels indulgent - editing is good.  It's been a good listen lately.  Start with episode 107 - "Let's Declutter Some Toys"...unless you are a parent WITHOUT excess toys in your house.

5) Command Cord Clips
Wrangling cords takes more energy than I would have expected.  I appreciate clean surfaces without visual clutter and so wrangling the cords under the tv and the cords to various electronics is something I spend more time doing than I'd like.  These have been helpful, not for the really thick cords but do help keep the thinner ones where I'd like them and away from little hands.  That and some clear packing tape when needed.  I'll do what I have to do to keep the cord clutter to a minimum!  And these will probably come off easier than the residual goo from packing tape!
