Things I Like - July 2022

I always enjoy hearing what works for other people and I like sharing things I like, it's part of the reason I have a blog.  I've been doing these monthly posts for 9 years and they also provide a nice little snapshot in my life at a moment in time! See more here!  Some affiliate links may be included!

1) "The Mountains Are Calling" Sweatshirt
This might be my number one purchase of the year.  Putting Me Together posted about this in May and when I saw this one I bought it immediately.  And then I wore it every single day of our Maine trip.  Every. Day. (It was chilly there.)  And then on every adventure we've taken since (two more camping trips, it went with me to the Backstreet Boys concert, etc.).  The color is perfect.  It's warm without being too heavy.  It is perfect.  I ALMOST bought TWO MORE as backups but then didn't and now wish I did.  It's still available in some sizes and I keep hoping a return in my size will pop up.  There are other colors/words available (I bought a second color that hasn't been delivered yet).  But I highly recommend.  I love it.

2) Essie's Revenge's a Beach
I considered if I could do this whole list in just items this particular shade of blue since that seems to be many of my purchases recently BUT...not enough are in stock and/or I haven't tried them all (like a t-shirt I may be getting for my birthday).  My nails are almost exclusively blue in the summer (really, most of the year) and I always like new shades to mix in.  This one is fun and perfect.

3) Amazon swim top
This comes with some caveats but I do overall like it.  I bought a new swim suit in 2020 but then decided I wanted a different, sportier top this summer.  So I am wearing the bottoms I've had and added this top from Amazon.  I like the color with my navy bottoms and I like the style, a lot less to sunscreen.  If you are more well endowned on top I wouldn't recommend because there isn't a lot of support but that works ok for me.  I don't like that the pads move around but I keep thinking I just need to put a few stitches in them to keep them in place.  Overall, with being at a water park and playing in the water with my kids, this works very well!  (Mine is the peacock blue.)

4) The Right Stuff
Matt and I (mostly me) needed a break from the weird after suffering through Moon Knight and are now watching this, on what feels like the rare Friday or Saturday night that we are home (he has to get up so early for work during the week that we rarely watch anything together on those nights).  This is about the original Mercury Astronauts, a subject that has interested me largely since I read, and later watched, The Astronaut's Wives Club.  It's not amazing television but it is nice and normal after so much sci-fy lately with all the Marvel things we've been watching.

5) Lego Pirate Ship
This was a semi-impulse buy when Target had Legos on sale in the spring (which we bought for $10 off and then 2 weeks later I returned and bought for $20 off).  We started it as a family set over Memorial Day weekend and finished it the night before we went to Maine.  It was definitely above Sam's skill set but we helped him on his turns and corrected Luke's building a few times but otherwise, the boys largely held their own in assembly (more Luke).  It was SO FUN to have something we all worked on together, after all doing many sets on our own.  It probably took at least 5 hours over many nights to get it done and it was a nice mood reset some of those times.  And now it's on display and the boys have played with it (sometimes together, sometimes not) nearly every day we've been home since!  We might have to make this an annual transition (the amount of Legos we have in our home is...staggering...but we all really like them!).

What have YOU been liking lately?
