Homemade croutons

If you've been reading my blog for awhile you know that I'm generally of the belief that homemade is better than store bought.  I also don't like things going to waste.  So homemade croutons using homemade bread crusts = win win.

Homemade Croutons
Ingredients:
-about 4 cups of bread cubes (I saved all the weird ends to my homemade loaves)
-a total of 3 TB of olive oil & melted butter (I usually do 2TB of one and 1TB of the other)
-seasonings of your choice - we usually use store bought white cheddar popcorn salt and homemade ranch seasoning
bread scraps about to become croutons

Directions:
1) Preheat oven to 300°.
2) Cut bread into cubes, approximately the size you would prefer to eat.
3) Stir together the bread cubed and butter/olive oil until the bread is pretty evenly coated.
4) Season to taste with your pick.  I probably start with about 1tsp each of ranch seasoning and cheddar popcorn salt and then add more as needed.  Stir well to coat.
5) Spread in a single layer on a cookie sheet with sides.  Bake, stirring every 10 minutes.  They will be done when they are crisp with no chewiness remaining.  Let cool and store in a seal container at room temperature.

We've had these in the cupboard for months without any problems.  We've also eaten through half a batch in one day because they are delicious.  Luke loves them too!
