Things I Like - January

My monthly round-up of 5 things I'm liking, with a few affiliate links sprinkled in.  Thanks for helping support the blog! =)  See more here!

1) Velvet Ellori Block Heels - A New Day
One of the items on my fall/winter shopping list was black closed toe heels.  I sale stalked these from Target and they arrived the day before I needed them for a wedding!  They are comfortable, as far as heels go and the block heel makes them SUPER easy to walk in.  I don't buy pricey heels because I wear them so infrequently (these three times in the first two months of owning them, and I consider that a lot) so I'm pretty pleased with these!

2) Old Navy Relaxed LOVE Sweatshirt

I didn't need another sweatshirt but this one ended up in my Old Navy cart to hit free shipping and then it was the only thing I kept from the whole order!  I wear it A LOT.  A lot.  It's incredibly comfortable and I like that the LOVE is in the colors of my alma mater.  Even better, itt came with a clearance sticker on it that was less than I paid.  So when I was doing other returns in store I asked if they could price adjust it.  AND it was even cheaper then than the sticker showed.  I was willing to pay the higher (purchased) price so I was extra excited for another $5 off!  I have definitely gotten my use out of this one.

3) The Big Sick

Matt and I don't always agree on movies but this one was a solid win for both of us.  AND free on Amazon Prime.  Fictionalized version of a real love story that had a lot of feeling and humor.  It is rated R but was mostly language, I believe.  It lived up to what I had heard about it.

4) The Alien Adventures of Finn Caspian

Two months ago I shared a story podcast I had been enjoying with Luke but we quickly got through those episodes so I went looking for more podcasts for him.  It took me a few weeks to convince him to give this one a try but then he was QUICKLY hooked.  It's the story of Finn Caspian who lives on a spaceship (in outer space, obviously) with his parents, sister, friends, and others.  He has adventures.  It's aimed at 5-8 year olds (I believe) but Luke has had no problem listening to it.  We did the first 8-10 episodes in the car together to keep him interested and then he BLEW through the rest during quiet time.  Even listening to them multiple times now that he's caught up.  This has made quiet time go much smoother for both of us!

5) L'Oreal Quick Dry Primer Spray

I like anything that has me spending less time on my hair.  (Other than chopping it all off.)  I'm in the season (winter) where I wash and straighten it twice a week and this spray has really helped speed up my drying time AND protect it from all the heat (dryer and straightener) I inflict on it this time of year.  I can get my very thick (although kinda short) hair mostly dry in 5 minutes!  And I like the smell!
