Things I Like - May 2022

I always enjoy hearing what works for other people and I like sharing things I like, it's part of the reason I have a blog.  I've been doing these monthly posts for 9 years and they also provide a nice little snapshot in my life at a moment in time! See more here!  Some affiliate links may be included!

1) J Crew Factory Beaded Bracelets
I got on something of a bracelet kick last spring/summer and wore some almost every time I did something fancier than school runs.   These were suggested when I was contemplating a shirt from J Crew Factory and since they helped me reach free shipping, I ordered this and the shirt SO FAST.  They are so beachy and fun and perfect to add to my apparent bracelet rotation.  (I have the colors shown.)

2) Patriotic Placemats
I do a "summer fun stock-up" shopping trip right before the end of school (it's definitely a tradition that I started...last year) and it's one of the rare times I give into a lot of impulse shopping.  I picked up these at Hobby Lobby to use for Memorial Day and the 4th of July (we have other summer ones we'll use the rest of the summer) and they just make me happy seeing them on the table.  We've been placemat people for a long time and I enjoy switching them out for seasons.  This might be the first set that all 4 of us have matching! (Many of mine & Matt's come from before kids and I've filled in matching ones for the boys.)

3) Lego Tulips
We have been Lego people for our entire marriage, going back to the epic garage sale Matt found the summer we were newlyweds, $5 for a giant tub that included many Star Wars and Harry Potter sets.  I have all my childhood Legos (that I DO NOT share with my children) and Luke has quite the collection himself.  We've gotten even MORE into them this year though, with everyone getting at least one set in the past few months.  I got these for our anniversary/Mother's Day (they are so close together that my gifts over cover both and/or I don't remember which is for which).  Tulips are one of my favorite flowers and these are very cute.

4) Rain Gauge
One of the items on my 22 in 2022 list was to make a rain gauge and I did look into this.  It just seemed that most of them were out of a 2L bottle which, 1) we'd have to drink/dump out a 2L to get a bottle and 2) it wouldn't have lasted the summer.  Or a glass container was involved and that just seemed like a bad idea in a backyard where boys are frequently barefoot.  So I took to Target and bought this one for $6.  We hung it near our rain barrel and I can't quite read the amounts from the kitchen but I'm back there enough to see what it says anyways.  Between our rain barrel, raised beds, and this, I'm feeling like quite a farmer (who only grows flowers, berries, and tomatoes).

5) Abstract sunset print
I did a lot of Etsy browsing when looking for prints to fill a few frames over our buffet (a project that is FINALLY almost done, only took about a year).  As soon as I saw this one I knew it would be perfect, as long as Matt didn't reject it (he likes not liking things that I like).  It passed his approval so I ordered it and now it's hanging up.  I found a lot of things I liked but I knew this was right when I loved it immediately.  It's fun, summery, and I've always liked the blue/orange color combo.

What have YOU been liking lately?  I just bought my first belly bag since the 1990s so maybe one of those (I bought 3...to return 2) will show up next month.  I really don't know how I feel about this!
