Things I Like - October

My monthly round-up of 5 things I'm liking, with a few affiliate links sprinkled in.  Thanks for helping support the blog! =)  See more here!

1) Solo: A Star Wars Story
This is the first of the new set of Star Wars movies that we haven't seen in the theater but I did have the library DVD on hold a good two months before it was actually released (on Matt's card, since my holds are ALWAYS full).  I really enjoyed it!  Better than The Last Jedi but maybe not as good as The Force Awakens and Rouge One but still, better than I was expecting with all the less than favorable press.  It gave a lot of back story but, I think, would also be enjoyable as just a movie, not a Star Wars movie.  Matt grew up watching Star Wars and I didn't start until we were dating so he has much more of a history with them and Han Solo is his favorite character (this is an almost daily discussion at our house, thanks to the 5 year old).  So for nostalgic reasons, I don't think he liked it as much as I did but I found it really fun and enjoyable.  I even stayed awake for the whole thing which is pretty big.

2) Pantene Pro-V 3 Minute Miracle Moisture Renewal Daily Conditioner
Figuring out what works best for my hair may be a life long struggle for me.  So far, I have that I don't have to wash it every day (and I love those days I don't).  I've been using this conditioner on top of a regular conditioner for 6ish months and I think it's made a difference.  It makes my hair shinier and smoother.  I think it will especially help over the winter when everything is so dry.  Also, it's $5 not on sale and that's the kind of hair treatment I can get behind.

 3) Ocean's 8
We catch up on a lot of movies once they are on DVD.  #Parents.  This is another we've watched recently AND I stayed awake for (I don't write about all the ones I slept through).  Classic heist but with women and beautiful clothes and New York instead of Vegas (the two cities we visited this year!).  I thought this was fun and I didn't have the whole thing figured out by the end (although, I still don't have Ocean's 11 entirely figured out and I've seen that many times).  I'm here for almost anything set in New York and really enjoyed the behind the scenes on the DVD about how they filmed at The Met in New York (which, 4 trips in, we have yet to visit).  The whole thing was just really fun.

4) Paint by Sticker book
I bought this (for $5 at the time) for Luke to do on our plane trips to/from Vegas last week.  It's no mess and seemed like it could keep him occupied while also helping with number recognition over 10.  I helped him with the first couple stickers but then he did really well on his own, although he ran out of steam before he finished a whole picture (but came back to it later).  It was a great size for traveling but big enough that it was easy for him to maneuver.  I like anything that can keep my kid occupied but isn't a screen and this fit that perfectly.

5) Jack Ryan on Amazon Prime
We seem to be constantly running out of shows to watch together and a couple nights a week it's really nice to sit on the couch together and eat some crackers.  We knocked through this show in about 2 weeks and I usually don't do political things or anything even remotely thriller-y (Stranger Things was really pushing it) but I thought this was well done and I really wanted to know how it ended.  It is rated MA or whatever the tv equivalent of R is.  We will watch the next season, whenever that happens.

(This is a lot of screen things I've recommended...we are obviously home with more time than we had over the summer!)

What have YOU been liking lately?  What show should we binge next??
