September felt fast but then I looked at pictures from Labor Day weekend when pulling for this post...and was amazed that stuff happened just (barely over) a month ago. September was filled with so much running (both for myself AND cross country practices and meets for our oldest). My husband went BACK TO SCHOOL which has been INSANE. The amount of changes in our lives in the 3rd quarter make my head and heart hurt when I think about it too much. But he's been super busy with school which means A LOT of solo parenting for me. Now cross country is nearly done, my running is slowing down, and Matt no longer constantly feels like he's drowning in schoolwork. Maybe October will be a little easier before the kickoff of the holidays (although, I do so much of the prep for that and I have many hours to myself right now...so I don't really anticipate that being stressful).
Anyways, here's September. It was a full one!
Looking back:

6 years ago: Time Tracking (I still do this, logging around 38 hours a week)
7 years ago: Cutting the Clutter
8 years ago: Strawberry Applesauce (still a staple in our house)
9 years ago: Perfect Blueberry Muffins (have these in my freezer AND I'm making mini ones for a bridal shower this weekend)
10 years ago: Homemade Cleaning Products (we still use almost all of these!)
11 years ago: Things I Really Like Right Now (the first one!)
1) I still haven't had any of my brilliant blue morning glories but these light blue ones are holding me over, for now.
2) Baseball game with much of my family to kickoff Labor Day weekend (the same night one kid had practice, the other had a birthday party, and I ran some errands in between).
3) Sunflowers at the Farmers Market! The only time we've managed to go this year.
4) I DID get in quite a bit more reading on the porch, my reading is much more on track now.
5) Tomato pickings...which I took to my sister so she could use to make sauce since we weren't doing much with them.
6) I bought the steamer that the internet loves (affiliate link) and it DID make a difference on the bathroom floor...the one time I've gotten to using it...I need to get back to that.
7) Our downtown biking date, at a rooftop bar, looking towards Electric Works on Friday night...
8) And on the roof of Electric Works looking towards downtown on Sunday afternoon, our one stop this year during Be a Tourist in Your Own Hometown (a day that also included a baby shower, a school open house, and lots of homework for Matt).
9) One of the earliest turning trees in our neighborhood!
10) An evening with Rainn Wilson, Dwight from The Office. Matt was supposed to go with me (we even found a sitter on our 3rd try!) but then had class at the same time so I went with my sister...and drove a niece and nephew (who had procured their own tickets).
11) Pretzel bites with cheese! From the Aldi refrigerator section and delicious.
12) A GORGEOUS (but dewy) morning at cross country. Luke was picked up at 6:15 by his uncle/coach. I went back to bed for 30 minutes after that.
13) My hibiscus don't realize it's fall (they will be in the basement for the winter soon).
14) Felt so fall-y walking to a meeting with my tea and the leaves on the ground.
15) A foggy morning downtown, beautiful.
16) Picked up our pumpkins on the 30th, a day earlier but that's when it fit in the schedule! Plus we're growing our first ones, they'll be one big enough to carve!
Books finished: 17! Some short ones in there but still my best reading month of the year!
Miles ran: 90.55! It was A LOT of running.
Currently watching: I am on season 8 of The Office, in trying to keep up with Office Ladies. Then Matt and I have been watching some season 2 after we put in a few favorite episodes after I saw Rainn Wilson.
Most read post this month: August 2023 reading recap, Stripping: Laundry Style got back up there, and then Hawaiian Lasagna which is baffling. I don't know where those clicks were coming from.
Luke's current favorite song:
Sam's current favorite song:
Happy October! When I write the next one of these we'll be in the beginnings of the holiday season!
