My monthly round-up of 5 things I'm liking, with a few affiliate
links sprinkled in. Thanks for helping support the blog! =) See more here!
I have NOT done much shopping of the non-food variety lately. Almost all my clothes in the last 6 months have come from ThredUp and while I really like many items I've purchased there, it's hard to recommend since the majority (or all, I don't check) aren't sold at their original store anymore.
1) Backstreet Boys - Don't Go Breaking my Heart
DUH. Although, I didn't really like this song the first time I heard it. But I still downloaded it the day it came out, paying $1.29 + tax on iTunes EVEN THOUGH I had some Amazon digital credits but we were in New York and I didn't know how to access those digital credits on my phone. So I paid CASH MONEY for this. Well, credit card money but whatever. I downloaded it out of loyalty but now it's grown on me and has gotten a lot of play here in the last 2 months. Even more exciting, they SUPPOSEDLY have a new CD coming out this fall even though there's no date or title on that yet and don't think I'm not checking Amazon once a week for it. It's all very exciting.
2) Incredibles 2
Matt has long claimed the original Incredibles as his favorite of the Pixar movies and Luke's favorite movie changes to pretty much whichever one he's seen most recently. But when we saw this was coming out in the summer we knew we were going to see it at the drive-in. Luke has seen one movie in an actual theater (and we didn't even take him, my parents did) but is a drive-in pro, this one being his 14th trip to one (I obviously have a spreadsheet to track this, I can claim 68 drive-in trips myself, Sam's at 2.) Anyways, we went to see this the weekend it came out, even with an almost 10pm start time (we are pretty bedtime lax in the summer, especially on the weekends, ESPECIALLY when Mom & Dad want to do fun things too). And it was a delight. Matt may have laughed more than Luke. There was a lot of parent humor, not crass humor but like "not being able to keep track of the kids" humor. Sam wasn't impressed (he slept through the whole thing) but the rest of the family thoroughly enjoyed this. Definitely recommend if you liked the first, whether you have kids or not.
3) Old Navy EveryWear Scoop-Neck Tank
Old Navy is often hit or miss for me. Either they are ehhhh as soon as I try them on or I love it and wear forever (a lot of sweaters, this tank top). So I had low expectations when ordering but this has been a fantastic buy. It's one of the first things I wear once it's washed, it's comfortable, and is cute. Plus, Old Navy is always having sales so I got this for under $6 which it is definitely worth. It's nice to find some winning items there.
4) Wunderlist App
I had been telling Matt for weeks that we needed some app that we could both link to on our phones to share shopping and to-do lists. About 10 seconds of googling brought me this one and it exactly what I was looking for. I still use Swipes for managing my own to-dos, mostly recurring housework ones but for syncing lists with him this has been perfect. I have a folder set-up for shopping lists, with a different list for each store (because we don't need our Lowes items mixing with our grocery items). I have a nagging to-do list for myself, things I don't give an assigned date like I do in Swipes (maybe I should figure out how to only need one to-do list app?). Things like go to the BMV for the boat we bought, or call insurance about some issue. I had a list for New York prep and a list for house projects. I use it a lot more than Matt but it's been super helpful to just keep everything in one place.
5) Nutella
I think I need chocolate every day, after every meal (besides breakfast). It's how I tell myself that the meal is over and I am done eating for now. And sometimes I have dark chocolate. Or we have chocolate chip cookies. We almost always have ice cream in the summer but I TRY to only eat that once a day, and in the evening with Matt. So when I don't have dark chocolate and we are out of chocolate chips and the cookie jar is empty...I've found myself eating Nutella. Plain Nutella. And it's delicious. We have some from making these and I don't use it for much else, besides eating plain it would seem. And it satisfies that chocolate craving and lets me move on with my day. Until I get around to making more cookies (which just seem to disappear so fast!) or Matt buys me dark chocolate for Valentine's Day/Mothers' Day/our anniversary/Easter/my birthday/Christmas (if he's buying me a present there is usually dark chocolate involved). Nutella it is.
