Looking Back at April 2022

After, what felt like very slow January, February, and March; April just seemed to fly right by.  kicking off with spring break (with our whirlwind trip to St. Louis) followed by Holy Week and Easter...all of a sudden we were halfway through the month (with a whole 5 days of school in for Luke!).  These next few weeks until the end of school are just going to be gone before we know it too, with SO MUCH going on.  Summer, somehow, despite the VERY chilly weather we're having, will be here soon.  We had an 80° weekend a few weeks back and it was AMAZING.  More of that, please and thank you, although I am in NO hurry to have to turn on the AC.  80 is good for at least another month!

Looking back:
1 year ago: {9} Fantastic Picture Books About Actual Women
2 years ago: Painting the FINAL Kitchen Cupboard (I did this originally on Good Friday and I was thinking of it again this recent Good Friday.)
3 years ago: What Happened When my Husband (Mostly) Gave Up Screens for 90 Days (we never got back into the routine of watching tv together on week nights, plus we get up early so we go to bed early)
4 years ago: A Star Wars/Lego/Superhero Party
5 years ago: When Recycling Isn't So Easy (this is a still a struggle, though necessary)
6 years ago: Homemade Burb Cloths (I have a 4 year old still very much hooked on these)
7 years ago: Perfect (and easy!) Homemade Cinnamon Rolls (I've been thinking I need to make these again!)
8 years ago:
Real Expenses: One Year of Formula & Diapering (the news of formula shortages is terrifying and heartbreaking)
9 years ago: Things I Like - NYC Edition (working to convince someone we're due for another NYC trip...)
10 years ago:
Record Fast Speed

1) Gorgeous sunset on our after school-work drive to St. Louis (where Sam kept questioning why the Arch dared to live so far from us).
2) Seeing the Arch was a highlight of the trip for all of us.  And we had 3 different sky backgrounds at 3 different times of day this Saturday!
3) St. Louis was just enough south of us that they were a couple weeks ahead of us on spring.  It was lovely to be amidst the flowers and flowering trees.  I literally gasped when we saw some downtown on Friday night (which wasn't helpful to Matt trying to navigate to the hotel).
4) See, so much spring about 3 weeks ahead of us here.  It was a lovely trip for many reasons.
5) Daffodils back home over spring break!
6) I finally got the rest of my Christmas 2019 gift, seeing the traveling Broadway production of Waitress, one of my favorite movies.  Loved it.
7) This kid was fully representing UD this day. The shirt, sweatshirt, hat...he just happened to put it all on together!
8) I may have overbought for Easter baskets.  It was a bit out of control.
9) Dyed eggs with the boys for the first time ever!  It was fun and we only broke a few in the process.
10) Wearing my down winter coat over my springy dress for Easter Mass.  It was cold!  Not a fashion statement but I was warm!
11) Sam & I have coloring time at least one morning a week.  These are pages from a Shining Light stained glass coloring book.
12) Hyacinths downtown on a breakfast date with Matt on that lovely 80° weekend we had.  It was truly amazing.  I felt so much more alive with those temps, the windows open, sun shining!
13) And then a bike ride downtown with the boys the next day.  All of these hyacinths smelled AMAZING.
14) And the tulips were really pretty too.
15) We used a gift card to try out Kilwins which was delicious, but I'd rather support a local business than a chain.
16) And biking through stinky, pretty trees to come home!

Books finished: 13
Miles ran:
15, had to run in 35° windchill with the stroller (Sam had his winter coat, a blanket, and fell asleep) to reach that!
Currently watching:
We watched the last 3 of the Hunger Games movies in April, finishing out the series.  And I'm actually caught up on Grey's and The Office at the moment!
Most read post this month: Still, after 2+ years, Stripping: Laundry Style BUT next was Mixed Drink Monday: Fizzy Flamingo and that might finally overtake it in May!
Luke's current favorite song:
I'm going with "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
Sam's current favorite song: "We Will Rock You" by Queen

May brings Mothers Day, our anniversary, and the last day of school!  Within a month we'll be fully in summer mode!
