Things I Like - November 2021

Happy Black Friday!  I hope I am shopping AT Target today just because it's my favorite day to shop at Target all year (and I only did it online last year) and then pulling out ALL the Christmas decorations and starting on that!  It's the MOST Wonderful Time of the Year!

I always enjoy hearing what works for other people and I like sharing things I like, it's part of the reason I have a blog.  I've been doing these monthly posts for 9 years and they also provide a nice little snapshot in my life at a moment in time! See more here!  Some affiliate links may be included!

1) Ted Lasso
This is a show that I have wanted to watch for quite awhile but we didn't have Apple TV AND THEN Target was offering a few months for free but we wanted to finish Community first.  THEN we finally activated it when we were trying to figure out how to watch It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown with our kids for free.  And I suggested this to Matt.  You all, we, like nearly every other person I've heard talk about it, LOVE it.  It's not for kids (a lot of language and some innuendo that seems to be increasing in season 2) but is overall pretty optimistic and positive.  Although season 2 (that we've seen, we're not done yet) is a bit darker.  Jason Sudekis is a football (American) coach who goes to England to coach a football (the rest of the world) team.  And it's funny and light hearted and I know the tiniest bit about soccer now (although I have SO MANY QUESTIONS about the soccer leagues in the UK...starting with how does there seem to be GOBS of teams and yet ALL the players are rich and famous???  There are only so many people in the UK!)  Anyways, this has been a complete delight of our past few weeks and I am already sad for when we finish season 2.

2) Dluxe by Dearfoams Kimberly Slippers
Another delight to my past week has been getting slippers WITHOUT holes in the bottom.  My last pair, regrettably, didn't even last 2 years but then I also wear slippers, conservatively, 75 hours a week (all my waking hours at home) from October - May.  I thought I could hold out until Matt could give me some for Christmas but then I gave up and ordered my own and my feet have been SO MUCH HAPPIER.  These are super cozy and have a thicker sole so they should take me longer to wear through.  It's about an inch which is always always reminding me of my beloved platform sandals in high school but not high enough that it's a tripping hazard.  I always looked forward to even putting on my holey slippers so these are an extra delight.

3) Old Navy Cheers Sweatshirt
I am a BIG sweatshirt wearer in the winter, especially on my favorite days of not leaving the house (I managed this TWO DAYS IN A ROW this past week and I was amazed and so happy about it).  This is my latest addition, mainly because I like my last Old Navy crew neck sweatshirt (which I still own and wear) so much.  I like that I can wear the crewneck ones under a puffer vest or my utility jackets for those chilly but not cold days and they feel slightly dressier than a hoodie.  I can be between sizes at Old Navy but rounded up for a more relaxed fit.  I'll be wearing this a lot this holiday season (and beyond!).

4) Bath stopper and drain protector
Matt saw me saving pictures from these and was a big baffled that I was blogging about them.  BUT they are legit things I like!  First, our drain stopper broke a few months ago and Sam has been rather sad he hasn't been able to take a bath.  Also, it's way easier just letting him splash around in the tub for a bit rather than trying to wrestle him through a shower.  This one has worked perfectly so far and I really appreciate that it has a suction cup on it to hang on the side of the tub so we never lose it.  The day it came Sam was so excited that he took a bath at 3:30 in the afternoon and then promptly put on footie jammies.  Sam is always trying to wear footie jammies as much as possible.

Second, I have a lot of hair which means I shed a lot of hair, especially when I wash it.  Since our drain is wide open now, when the bath stopper isn't on it, we really need some sort of catcher.  We've had one since we got the tub but it had gotten really gross and we could never get it clean.  So we bought this one, metal which hopefully easier to clean than the silicone (??) one we had before.  Also, we can metal recycle it when we are done!  So far it works great and we can even keep it under the bath stopper so NOBODY thinks they are exempt from using it (although I am definitely the one that needs it the most).

5) Welcome to the OC podcast
I include The OC among my top 5 favorite shows* and have seen the whole series at least a few times straight through.  Recap podcasts are really a thing right now (I listen to 3 done by people who were involved in each of the shows) and I was unsure about this one for awhile.  It is done by Rachel Bilson (Summer) and Melinda Clark (Julie) and I think they are finally finding their groove.  It made me realize how well done The Office Ladies are (even though it took them a bit too).  Anyways, The OC is one of the few shows where I know most of the episodes pretty well (especially the first 2 seasons) so I know most of the moments they are referencing which makes it easier to follow along without actually watching the episodes recently.  (I can't even keep up with the episode the Office Ladies are on, no way I can throw another 40 minute episode in a week.)  They have a bit more language and admit to not remembering a lot of what happened on the show but it has been fun to revisit that world again.

*If you are wondering I believe that list is The Office, Friends, Cougar Town, The OC, and Hart of Dixie.

What have YOU been liking lately?  Also, do you have a go to "top 5 favorite all-time shows" because I feel like that's super crucial information to be able to pull out of your back pocket.**

**Not really, and I actually keep my list on my phone and not my back pocket although that list is top 12 at the moment.  I have no idea why I felt compelled to do this or even think about it.
