August was a month of transitions. We started the month with back to back trips, camping 2 nights, home less than 3 hours to do laundry & restock food, and then another 2 night trip with a long stop on the way home. Then the week of school starts for the boys which made me cry, a whole lot. It took into the second week of my baby starting kindergarten before I stopped crying every day. So that was fun. Now it's been a whole lot of catching up on everything that got pushed over the summer AND a lot of quiet days at home. I try not to go a whole school day without talking to anyone but sometimes it still happens. This year has been one of transitions, especially this 3rd quarter and lots of mixed feelings about that one...
Looking back:
1 year ago: Travel: Acadia National Park (still one of my favorite trips ever)
2 years ago: {10} Picture Books About Bees (I used to do SO MANY book lists! Where did I find the time???)
3 years ago: Book Love: Florance Adler Swims Forever by Rachel Beanland
4 years ago: Under the Kitchen Sink: A Before & After (it still mostly looks like this!)
5 years ago: MDM: Mucho Gusto (one of my FAVORITE drinks I made in that project)
6 years ago: Front Room: In Progress (quite a few things have changed since then!)
7 years ago: ICOTW: Salty Caramel Ice Cream (we have some of this in our freezer right now)
8 years ago: A-Mazing Chocolate Frosting
9 years ago: The Bathroom is Done! (Basically) This is still mostly looks the same too!
10 years ago: Our First Family Vacation (TINY BABY LUKE)
1) It actually cost less to get a dozen than to get 8....so we got a dozen. En route to camping trip #1.
2) Watching the boys swim, having our seltzer. A week earlier we were doing this on the Florida beach.
3) I LOVE a campground. Especially this one.
4) And now on camping trip #2. It had been awhile (Maine???) since we had one of the deluxe cabins without a stove in the kitchen so outside cooking it was!
5) Morning tea around camp. These are our camping mugs and I love getting to pull them out.
6) This campground had complimentary blueberry picking. We didn't have many container options but Sam & I picked what we could! They were delicious.
7) A VERY foggy day at Warren Dunes on the way home. So foggy.
8) Zinnias are blooming although not nearly as many as last year!
9) Family fun day the day before Luke started school (which was also Sam's adoption day).
10) On Sam's first day of kindergarten, one of his best cousin buddies gave me a bouquet of flowers (from his mom/my SIL) and it made me cry. Everything made me cry that day. But it was very sweet.
11) Raspberries in the backyard. We consistently get a handful every day! Not bad for plants we got for $0!
12) Sno-cones to celebrate the first week of school!
13) Matt is still on 4-10s and now I purposely DON'T work the days he's off (I used to since he'd hang out with Sam). This was his first one since school started and we got $4 margaritas. At noon. On a Monday (they were delicious).
14) MY FAVORITE SNACK but at home. My sister pointed out that the one problem with cross country meets is that they don't have concessions like wrestling meets. This is a valid point.
15) There is more of this happening lately which is nice. I do appreciate that part of being alone most of the time.
16) And my morning glories are blooming! Sam delights in finding me all the light blue ones, still waiting on the dark blue ones to bloom!
Books finished: 13!
Miles ran: 76.1! Now in my worst running month of the year. I do this to myself...
Currently watching: I'm watching The Office when I'm working from home.
Most read post this month: June & July 2023 Reading Recap then ICOTW: Peach Sorbet (no-churn or ice cream maker) good choice on that one, I have multiple mason jars of it in my freezer.
Luke's current favorite song:
Sam's current favorite song:
September has already brought Matt starting school (more transitions) and brings more cross country meets and some fall weather which I am more excited for than expected. Actually looking forward to all of fall! Everything is changing!
