Fall 2019/Winter 2020 Shopping List

I was starting to look at some additions to my closet for the fall when I kept wondering what I had put on my list so I knew what I should be looking for.  I pride myself in a pretty decent memory but it wasn't until I checked my own blog archives TWICE that I was sure that I had never wrote this post.  I was really convinced that I did!  So then I started wondering what the heck I was looking for for fall/winter instead of just buying whatever fashion bloggers (really, Audrey at PMT) recommended.

First, looking back at how I did for the spring/summer.  Shocking myself, I bought ZERO clothing items in June, July, or August.  Literally zero, not even any replacement items.  I don't know if it was solely a time thing (I don't have much time for even online shopping when Luke is out of school and what "free" time I get I probably want to be reading or running.  And I really hate trying clothes on, even at home.) or money (letting my allowance build back up).  But I just didn't shop and it was all fine!  I had plenty of clothes to wear and there really wasn't anything I wanted.

(I guess I DID buy a new sports bra but that was a replacement item and comes from a different budget line so it really doesn't count here.  But that is the sole clothing item I bought in those three months.)

Almost all of these things I bought I already owned when I made this list.

1) Navy Wedges
I bought these from J. Crew and I'm so excited I finally have them after SO MANY YEAR of being on my list.  I'll probably wear them a few more times before we're in solid boot weather.

2) Floral Top
This was a J. Crew via ThredUp purchase.  Wore it quite a few times to church and work (both instances with a jacket on top).

3) 3ish Short Sleeved Tees
Stripes were both ThredUp purchases, middle I bought from J.Crew (Factory) itself.  Really, I didn't need another blue tee...but now I have one.

4) Fun Flats
I actually just bought these in October and then the 7.5 seems to big so I just bought a size 7 to see if it's better.   Bonus, the size 7 is $5 cheaper.

5) 2ish Tank Tops
I didn't buy any and it was fine!  Nice to know that what I had was enough!

6) Joggers
I bought these on Amazon and I'm pretty happy with them!  I wear them to lounge around the house in the evenings and they are a nice "it's too cold for shorts but I'm not ready for leggings yet" in between for sleeping too.

The ONLY item I bought not on this list was a pair of Universal Thread cut-offs that the Target site calls "shorties" but I definitely don't feel like they are super short.  I wore them often in the summer even if I got annoyed when the threads at the bottom got bent all over the place.

Now, a plan for the fall/winter.

1) Cognac Booties
I have a grey-ish/tan pair and a black pair but I really like my cognac riding boots and I think I'd wear cognac booties often.  I bought these from Target and tried them on but haven't really tried them out around home yet.  They do have a decent amount of cushion in them for being from Target!  My window to wear booties isn't long so I'm fine with ones much cheaper than my (constantly worn) riding boots.

2) Another pair of skinny jeans
Why is it so hard to find a pair of jeans that fits well?  Right now I have 3 pairs of blue skinny jeans.  One distressed (my favorite but distressed isn't always appropriate), one dark (that I am wearing right now), and a medium wash that isn't my favorite (they twist weird when I walk, the ones I talk about back here).  I'd like at least one more pair that I actually really like.  I have a pair in my closet waiting to be tried on...I just haven't yet.

3) 2ish Sweaters/Tops
It's just inevitable plus I've already bought one.

4) Long-Sleeved Dress
I have been contemplating this dress from Amazon but haven't yet hit the "place order" button.  I'm not sure why, probably just majorly procrastinating trying it on!  And I hate figuring out sizes from new-to-me brands.

5) Navy Utility Jacket
I don't really have a need for this other than the handful of times I am wearing my olive green jeans and can't wear my olive green utility jacket with them.  But I never needed much of a reason to want to buy ANYTHING in blue so I have this ordered, we'll see if I keep it. (I'm going to get good at returning things to Amazon quick!).
__________________________________________

That's it!  Shockingly, this list contains NOTHING I have already bought from ThredUp which might be a first.  Also, even a couple months ago I wouldn't have expected so much of my clothes to be coming from Amazon.

Hopefully this helps keep me in check with my shopping, especially around Black Friday!  I appreciate how making these lists help hold me accountable to what holes I have in my closet and what would best fill those.  I honestly felt a little lost shopping these last couple weeks without knowing what I am really looking for.  My list of items bought "off list" have shrunk from TWENTY to just ONE.  So, it's really been helpful both money wise and in time spent/not spent shopping.  Not to mention not having an over flowing closet!  All good things.
